    Female Mallard

    [IMG]www.flickr.com/photos/101212171@N02/9717943445/]

It's easy to overlook the female in favour of the more colourful males, however I find many female birds, especially ducks to be very attractive. This was taken at the WWT in Barnes and she was quite happy to sit there while I took a series of shots. The backgrounds made up of reeds some distance behind the mallard. EOS 1D3 with 500mm f4L IS lens and 1.4 converter.

Like the background, the composition and the clarity you have achieved.

This is nice, crisp, clear and a lovely BG blur.

although less colourful, I much prefer the female for portraits too
