    Perigrine Falcon

Late in the afternoon we few this bird on the cliff top at Sidmouth but with the light failing and the speed of the bird it wasn't worth trying for flight shots, so stuck with the poses

    All with 300 f4

      Thanks for looking Chris.

I would have preferred a better sky for the background to the first two shots but with the fading light that was not to be so with the third one I moved position to get an environment background and was fortunate that the ivy on the post covered up the telltale signs of captivity

dont forget it was a photo day with a captive bird otherwise there is no way to get that close to a perigrine

Number 3 does it for me. My only minor crit is the background. You say #3 is at 90mm using a 70-200. The 300mm f4 would have diffused the background (assuming that being further back you wouldn't have fallen off the cliff)! Perhaps a crop off the right and a bit of cloning? Have you also thought about flipping it?

                Regards,

I had been using thev70-200 with the converter as with 9 other people taking shots i needed the flexibility of a zoom with others constantly stepping in the line of sight. For this shot I had actually moved round to the left and I am shooting at 90 degrees to the cliff face and had to get in close otherwise there would have been vegetation in the way, so the converter came off as well
