Its a dark image but that is just what you need to capture detail with dark coloured birds such as this, nice and sharp and a good eye too

Very impressive catch as, with a fast moving, dark bird against a dark background it won’t have been easy to pick out all that feather detail. The ‘shape’ of the bird could not be better so it’s just a pity it’s not more distinct against the background - not that there was much that could be done about that though.
