    Gulls .... of some kind

    Jill and I visited Robin Hood's Bay today. I didn't have much luck with my photography, but here's a couple of Gull shots. Birds aren't my thing and I'm very much a novice when it comes to this subject. Thankfully they were stationary.

    I almost didn't post this one. I think the bright band of sky takes your eye away from the bird? I tried to remove it, but made it look worse.

    I used the 'overlay' in PS to slightly sharpen the images.

    Andy the first one is good but the second is very good in my opinion.

      Correction: Actually, I used 'filter > other > High Pass' then set the layer as Overlay.

        Thev first is a black headed gull and the second a herring, that being the better of the two with good detail in the eye showing
