    Cheers Chris

    another vote for the 300mm
it worked very well with the converter and 7D on Saturday. We did a lot of flight shots and for the majority we were able to pick the birds up from a distance and follow them in giving plenty of time to lock on the focus but with the pintail, I only caught sight of it as it came into view to the right of the winfow in the hide, so had the camera/lens not been able to lock on straight away I would not have got 1 sharp shot let alone 5 of them

That first shot is amazing Stan, outstanding in both quality and pose. Well done.

Brama of a shot Stan even the birds bill is shining! Looks like he polished it before taking to the wing! Is it ok to ask what lens you used??

I am too lazy to write it out each time but 420mm is 300 f4 + 1.4x and of course the camera is a 7D

Lovely shot - I have a pair with the ornamentals on my pond - they are my favourites, very elegant, but also shyer than other ducks.
