    Crested Grebe on rough water

I've only ever seen Crested Grebes paddling serenely on smooth water so seeing one struggling into the wind was something of a novelty. Shot at the Nature Discovery Centre, Thatcham which has been taken over from the RSPB by the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust. It's a very nice site with a decent combination of a big lake and a decent centre with facilities for kids as well as birders. Having been in North Wales for a week and seen some pretty rubbish weather, it was nice to get my 7D/400L out in some sunlight for a change...

Not the best light to bring out the colours but look quite sharp
