    Re: Goldfinch

I can't really look at older images. Especially the wildlife ones. Stan will likely remember when I first joined the forum. I'd post everday a new image of a bird, usually with a dirty big branch in the way lol. In fact, if it wasn't for Stan I'd still be fruiting about the undergrowth trying to get that clean background.

Worlds apart the images Paul. You have done some excellent processing and is only clear that you have now we are able to compare. That's the sign of good reworking, when it's not apparent that it's happened.

Makes me wonder if we need a new section where posters can show the before and after. It would certainly assist those of us that are still getting to grips with the workflow required to truly enhance an image without it looking awful. What do others think of my suggestion? Sorry to ransack your post Paul.

No worries. I like the set up and final result thread on POTN. SImilar line. There's many ways to do the same thing, however, it's just about good direction of light, keeping out of the blacks and whites in camera and then in post you have everything to play with. You just need to then figure out how you want it to look. Wildlife is easier cause it sticks to a set rule. Light on the subject, keep the eye sharp and try to get contact. The rest is really how you want to play it.
