Galapagos Hawk (after eating his lunch)

Another shot from our long ago trip to The Galapagos. This imperious bird (together with his friends and relations) had just finished feasting on the carcase of a seal pup which had died shortly after birth on (I think) Santa Cruz island. This explains his somewhat dishevelled appearance and the smear of blood around the top of his beak and forehead.

Nice portrait shot John, just might need to be brighten just a bit as it does look a little dark on my monitor.

With any bird or in fact animal image, the eye needs to catch your eye - I think all you need to do is lift the shadows and make the eye "pop"

Tom, Chris & Stan - thanks for looking and for your guidance.

I have made a couple of small adjustments, in line with both the suggestions made.

Looks much better slightly lightened John. Great shot
