    short eared owl

    out this evening for the first time in a month + short eared owls have returned to the local marshes .thats fired my interest up again

            Never seen a SEO in the wild so great to have them close by but what an awful background to fly against , you need to train them where to fly

              Nice shot Jeff. Not so upset by the background as its part of the scene, I would have been more than happy just to see one!

                agree, although I would have gone for a slightly tighter crop

                      its a really large crop already ian ,hopefully they will be around all winter so closer shots will be obtainable once the fair weather togs have gone .and funnily enough if i had actually gone to my usual spot they would have been closer ..this was just a quick recce to see what part of the marsh they had chosen this year .
                      the signs are there that its gonna be a good year and a hard winter (el nino effect) will also draw in the waxwings etc

                        so not using the big gun ;o).... I assume in that case the other one you posted applies to that as well
