    Isn't it strange how juveniles looks more attractive than the adults

    Two nice poses but I prefer the gannets - the first looks a bit oversharpened and both particularly the second the whites have blown

      Hi Stan

      I've hardly touched either of the images. Very little sharpening and only minor adjustments to the levels. Otherwise as off the camera.

        I guess with the first one then the oversharpening must be a trick of the light.
        With the second one the tail and top part of the head are totally blown, R, G and B channels all 255. White birds are always difficult to expose for but if you shoot raw there is sometimes a chance to recoversome detail or by using the shadow/highlight tool in PS. With this shot I'm afraid there is no detail there to recover - shame cos you got a good wing position and a clear eye
