            You may need more that a 1.4 extender! At least it's out in the open. I've been in a hide where there has been a bittern in the reeds and it was quite amusing listening to someone trying to explain to friends etc. where the bird was. They are the masters of camouflage.

              They are amazing, this could appear and disappear in the tiniest bit of cover, even when you are looking straight at it, nature sure is clever. Thing I didn't know is they have the tip of the bill underwater when hunting, unlike the Grey Heron who keeps his above the water, learnt a lot today about our Herons.

                  Burnie, once you get your Kenko 1.4x attached to your 100-400mm lens you will be OK. I have never seen a Bittern to date and you have seen one and also photographed it. Well done.

                    That was down to the bird rather than anything I did, I was talking to the guy who first spotted it, he couldn't quite believe it. Someone said well done on finding it, he replied he didn't it just appeared, in front of virtually unused hide, had plenty of use recently though.
