    Female Kestrel

One from this weeks visit to the Hawk Conservancy. The wild female kestrel about to land on the dead tree in the meadow. The branch did not add anything to the shot so i cloned it out

Great shot Stan, but on my screen I can still see some ghosting from the clonig process.

I should not have mentioned the cloning but of course you are right

        Much better Stan.

I normally find that a soft edged patch works better for cloning large areas, but if I have to clone, after the intial cloning is complete, I use a much larger brush set to 50% to blend in the areas.

there wasn't enough room between the bird and the branch to choose a decent size patch on this one but its a good idea.

            second that

This is where digital comes into its own!! And so the never ending debate continues, like in another thread 'what do members prefer...?' Because this image has been 'manipulated' (i.e. cloning) does that mean this shot is no longer authentic or natural? (The final image is not a true representation of what was seen or recorded). I think here and in other cases also - the photographer - the artist- may choose, because they are the ones 'creating' the image and so they know what is important or not!

                  Thanks Muscat and Richard
I wont join the cloning debate but with this shot had I got the shot a couple of seconds earlier she would have been high enough for the branch to be out of shot
