Male Hen Harrier ( record shots )

As per Jeff's ( aka The Blackfox ) last week these two are record shots only and not intended for critique but like Jeff I wanted to share them as these are a species in serious decline in the UK and an absolute rarity in Shropshire ( a first for me in the County ) so I was thrilled today to watch him hunting over the meadows. The light was dismal and he was along way off so these are huge crops but I am still buzzing at the sighting and the record shot capture.

That's astounding Steve ,considering the rarity values of these persecuted birds it's amazing we have both got shots of them ,I actually walked out about a mile into the marshes yesterday on the chance of a shot ,but all I got was the kestrel .

Thought of you mate when my jaw dropped open as I could not believe what I was seeing. Like always I guess I just wish the sun had been out and he had come in much closer but all things considered it was a privilege just watching him hunt for a few minutes.

Even as record shots they do show the markings quite well.

A specie few will have photographed.
