Stan I,m not having a dig so don't please take it that way ,but to me that looks extremely pale and undersaturated ,and going back to your comment on my goldfinch it makes me wonder if perhaps your monitor has gone out of colour synch . I have viewed this on both my I.mac and I.pad and it looks the same on both .
Even the blue sky looks wishy washy when at this time of year it's usually a deep blue ,it can't be geographical as dave 61 sky looks the right blue to me ??

I am totally not an expert but from a greenhorn, it looks like shadows/dark areas have been lifted a bit too much. Thats MHO.

I agree with Jeff and Nat, plus sorry to say the blurry bit takes the viewers eye from the bird.

I can see why you say that but this was how it was shot, very little processing - I took a dozen or so shots and all the jpegs straight out of the camera look very similar to this. It is a female of course and although not as dark as the male, she is much lighter than expected, so much so that I thought originally I had shot something other than a reed bunting and had to check out the details in Collins

                Re: Bunting on the Reed

I like it, it's just the blurry bit that drags you away from it, the rest though is excellent.

Excellent composition but I do think it lacks a bit of punch and the oof reed is a distraction. Where did you take at Barnes?

yes this was at Barnes and as mentioned above the colours and paleness were as it was on the day and to add any more contrast would have meant the bird would not look as I saw it. The oof reed, well having had another look I cant do a convincing removel so it will have to stay
