I set out today to capture some shots of the Redwings that have arrived with the cold weather in the last couple of days. The light was so poor, my assistant & I decided to set up a fill flash .....

Very interesting. I have noticed that Robins are looking for food. Quite a lot are very friendly and are approaching humans!!!!! I have not been out and about taking wildlife pics as I am awaiting a hospital procedure next week. However, it is quite possible to hand feed these Robins now and even take real close ups.

I think you needed a reflector in front of the flash, to reflect the light back onto the robin

I normally get the assistant to hold the reflector, but he was too busy showing off

Thanks for commenting Alan. I'm using a Yongnuo Radio Trigger with a mix of Canon and Yongnou (RT) flash heads so the flash fired when I hit the shutter.
