    The Buzzards next lunch ?

This is a different buzzard, spotted at Slimbridge yesterday. He took no notice of the pigeon, probably because he had just eaten a stonechat

he was in the reeds near the Kingfisher hide and the place was heaving with people so difficult to get a shot. We stayed about an hour but although you could see him, he was well hidden in the reeds and never came out into the open, in contrast to friday when apparently he was running across the ice and at one point was posing on a fence post - that shot is on the WWT website - now that would have been the one to get

Yes I saw that shot Stan it was a stunner. I spent 4 hrs freezing yesterday in a hide at a local reserve as there is a single bittern roosting there, he decided to show at 1615 when it was virtually dark so never lufted the camera !!

One of the best images I have seen for a long time , fascinating situation to catch on camera , would be surprised if you could not make money from this Stan , well caught indeed .

It is rather unusual but checking on the RSPB website it is unlikely a buzzard would go for a pigeon as they tend to go for small birds under 500gram - I wonder if they weigh them - which would explain the stonechat he had just eaten.
