    lapwing at 840mm

had a play with the sigma 1.4tc today that i recently acquired from steve dawes .this is a lapwing at 840mm handheld i.e sigma 150-600mm + plus 1.4tc .i,m very pleased with the results although it did give a higher percentage of also ran shots .and would probably be better on the tripod .
resolution wise i can't fault it and it hasn't seemed to affect focus speed one little bit ,in fact later in the day i was doing and getting marsh harriers in flight with it .to far away to publish but at least its worked .

Really nice shot, love the plumage detail, nothing whatever to complain about with that quality.
I guess the lower pixel density on the larger sensor of the 1D Mk III is a help with IQ. It was, after all, in the professional range.

I note that the 1D Mk IV really seems to hold its high value - unless you are happy with 300,000 shutter count. I can only assume that Canon found it too much to continually develop three different sensor sizes at the same time.
EOS 6D, 6D Mk II, 80D, 70D, 100D, 200D, M50, M100. hard to explain unless you have used one richard ,the camera itself is dinosaur age .the view screen is just there for effect never delete anything from a view screen look unless totally blurred .the a/f is lightning fast even with the big sigma but not infallible .but its when you load the files up to your p.c or mac that it screams at you the pics just jump out of the screen ,p/p is so smooth and easy to do .
i have borrowed and used a mk4 for a weekend and to be honest there wasn't that great a difference .so for roughly £800 difference between what i paid and a mark 4 i can live with this .

Nice one Jeff , and nicely captured considering focal length and being handheld .
