    7dmk2 sigma 150/600 at 600mm 1/1000 F6.3 auto iso and wb. range approx. 45mtrs.

both came to play in evening light but would not come out from behind some naff twigs and branches, then a dog walker! argh!! birds gone.

3 and 4 dont work, obscured by the branches, I would have just stuck with the first which is nice and clear but would have tried a closer crop as the tree is rather overpowering

Agree with Stan, 1 and 2 are more effective than 3 and 4 as the bird is not obscured.

As other have said #1 is the pick of the bunch and a lovely shot and classic woodpecker pose, room to crop a bit off the top too, very nice indeed

Did really good to get the shots. No's 1&2 are very good. No4 he looks really angry , maybe he didn't like the dog walkers either.

The first one is good , its just a shame that other branch is infront of the main tree

                    Thanks All for looking,
these were my first real outing having spent loads of time with the focus problems I've had. Hopefully sorted post repairs and with advice from many esp Black Fox

Agree with you all 3&4 were only added as interest shots and showing the eye focus.

Have cropped no 1 a bit more and IMHo looks better?

A square crop losing the dead space on the left side of the tree might work better

I can see the difference, had thought of something similar but was worried the increase in noise would spoil it, never too old to learn.
