Beautiful day locally (much like rest of UK) so decided to check out the kestrels.

Male was sunning himself above the nest and spotted me straight away

Actually became a bit agitated which was unusual for this site

Soon settled down and was preening. Female was busy incubating

Once again it's a pleasure to be able to photograph these birds. Was 2013 when I took first images but I know from locals that kestrels have nested at this site far longer. Couple of older people say its at least 20-25 years. Probably not same adults (normal life span about 15 years though oldest recorded is about 24 years) but great that they have continued to thrive.
