    Kestrel 2017-3

As I'm going to be away for a week I thought worth a visit to see the kestrel nest. Wasn't expecting to see much apart from still incubating.

However, when I got there the position of the female was indicative of covering young. Waited for some time and she wasn't for moving and was about to leave when I heard the male calling.

He landed on the perch above the nest with what turned out to be a shrew

He dropped down to the nest passed the shrew to the female and 3 grey heads popped up
Kestrel 2017-7 by tblake2007, on Flickr

He then left it to her to feed the chicks

However she was very aware of my presence and wasn't feeding the chicks so I decided to leave. On the way spotted male in a location where I could get this full frame image

As you can see light was very variable so some of the images not the best but nice to see at least 3 young.
