Thanks all, they were still to far away really, these are shot at 1000mm and nearly a 100% crop to get anything worthwhile, I was also suffering from drifting autofocus as the background blended in, so was having problems getting lock ons.

Well done Tony, are these down near Rempstone, came past there about 10 days ago and there seemed to be hundreds of Birders with scopes wandering about, there was even a Bee eater car park

                      Regards Paul

Re: Bee's and Wasps and all things for Lunch

Yes Paul, I was talking to a couple of the volunteers, they think working on about 2 per car they had up to a week or so ago about 10,000 visitors, the farmer wasn't keen on the parking then wanted to charge double plus what it is now, sense prevailed and he is really happy with it as it should now pay for most of his daughters wedding... it is £5.00 50/50 split with the RSPCA. They are getting more now the Schools are on holiday.

There is a bridleway across the road from the parking field and at the end of that you can view them, there are 7 adults, (apparently they enlist single youngsters to help feeding) and are a social group, there was all seven about when I was there again and they were a bit closer, a Kestrels you have fledged and had been using the tree they were originally in which is good news as they have moved closer, the tree had a bee's nest in it so it was meals on tap, so to speak..

The have nested and there are young, but they are keeping near the nest at the moment, so hopefully we should see double that figure soon, or even more, we could be into the 20's.

I will probably call in again later on, it is just handy it is so close to me. They have had the odd knob try to get into the area where the nests are and two were stopped the night I was last there, but they are being watched which is great and there is water between the viewing area and where I took my shots, so they are not being disturbed... all three nests have young, a fox has been seen, in fact it was about when we were there!
