    Cormorant

Taken this morning on a local lake where it is despised by the angling fraternity.

Nice clear shots of the dreaded bird, you may guess I am an angler. Did you know they eat their own weight in fish everyday & I have seen them taking fish well over a pound in weight.

Thanks David, Nat, Brian for your comments
Something of a funny story to this bird, or I thought so, although the angler that told me was not amused.
It appears there were two at the beginning of summer, who perched in a nearby dead tree. Someone shot one of them.
This remaining one now perches some 30 feet from the shore on this stump right in front of the Anglers, in sort of deviance.
There were four people fishing when I was there, and the bird just sat there. I love the second picture, it got that look of deviance.

Really nice shots. What's not to like about the cormorant - a fish-eating, water-based bird that has to hang out its wings to dry?!

No 2 for me as well. Not always welcome by anglers.

Not that it makes much difference but I'm fairly sure you still need license to shoot cormorants.
