        Excellent as ever, Stan. We have a pair occasionally visit our feeder but no opportunity to get anything like that.

          thanks for looking guys

          We have a pair occasionally visit our feeder but no opportunity to get anything like that
          can you fix up a nice branch / twig near the feeders which will act as a stopping off point for the birds as they come to the feeder - should then give you a chance to shoot them with a clear background and any other birds feeding as well

            I've thought about it Stan, but it's not going to be as simple as that. We're on a housing estate with the garden south facing. Beyond that are a few more gardens with hedges & trees and ultimately a river, meadows & woodland from where they come. Most of birds coming to our feeder tend to "tree-hop" from that direction. I can't think of a position for the feeder that would make them break cover before getting to it. Ultimately I need to swivel the house & garden around 180 degrees and I'd be fine!
