To say I was thrilled to to see this bird is an understatement , the shot itself is merely a record as it is a very heavy crop and grabbed in a fleeting second of the bird revealing itself. What made it special was the fact that this male Little Bittern turned up for a few days in my local patch and the last recorded sighting of one in Shropshire was over 100 years ago !!. Needless to say it caused great excitement among the birdwatching and photographer communities. My only regret being I missed an in flight shot as it flew from one patch of reedbed to another as I was helping a guy next to me with his camera settings but hey ho it did not spoil a great morning.
