    nice capture, perhaps just lift the shadows a little to get some detail in the eye ( what often also works is make a selection of the eye and then brighten it using a levels layer). I would also get rid of the white blob to the right of the frame

            Well captured. If your camera has a pop-up flash this can be very useful for putting a catch light in the eye. Having said that it's not always easy to remember to do it! Voice of experience.

              Thanks Brian, I use a 1D iv, so no flash fitted, I might have a go with remote flash at some point.

              This bird was picking up Winkles, then flying up and dropping them on the road to break the shell.
