    Whitethroat in Flight

Our usual walk on Hengistbury this morning resulted in a mass of Whitethroat pics, all a long range. As they were putting on quite an aerial show I set myself the challenge of getting a few shots of them in flight. These three are my favourites, what do you reckon? (I think the second and third are borderline acceptable but I had to do a fair bit of work on them to get the detail out)

Superb attempt, but as you suggest, #2 and #3 are over processed.

#1 looks pretty good on my screen though, so well done.

Thanks Colin, I've had a go at re-processing #3, sacricing some sharpness for hopefully, a bit better qulaity, What do you think, does it work any better? (hmm - not sure myself)

        Agree with above comments.

#1 is best for me, and I particularly like the sharpness of the bird's body against the movement in the wings. I also like that you've kept the branch in as it helps position the action.
IMHO 2nd attempt at processing is actually better, as the over processing in the 1st version really distracted.
For a long range shot of a small fast bird in flight, I think you've done extremely well!

Thanks for posting. All the best, Mike.

Tiny birds in flight - a very difficult subject but the first is fine, I would just get rid of the chromatic abberation around the tops of the wing. 2 and 3 ....its a shame as they look like they could have been sharp "if only"
