Not easy to capture with their "Big Dipper" style of flight, but I have found that they appear quite tolerant at Barns, so it is the right place to go for this shot.

lovely birds to shoot when you get the light right and the iridescence showing, nice work Stan
My camera is helping to look at the world more closely, then record what I see to share with others.

Great shot Stan. I dont know how you guys(and girls) do it. I never seem to be quick enough or close enough to capture a decent image of birds in flight. Well done anyway.

Stan, nice shot, tricky birds to get but you've got lovely blue colour on the wing! Hope you're recovering well!

Graham, don't worry - I'm also nearer the bottom end of the learning curve on that one! Practice helps, and good panning technique! I usually come back from a day out and immediately bin 4/5's of the shots, due to OOF, bad comp, wrong exposure etc. But you never know when one shot just pops out to be OK! Keep it up!

          All the best, Mike.

            Cheers Guys

There were two or three of them just inside the entrance to the world of wetlands and I would think they were in their own territory as they were chasing off any pigeons that dared come near. So they seemed a lot more used to people than others I have seen which meant a quite close approach without scaring them off. To show how close the shot here is not far off full frame

I usually come back from a day out and immediately bin 4/5's of the shots, due to OOF, bad comp, wrong exposure etc.
par for the course Mike although i probably dont ditch quite as many only because I have already ditched them before they see the computer

Now how do you take a shot like that, when your supposed to be saluting and saying "Good Morning Mr Magpie"

                  Great exposure, Stan
The sheen on the wings and tail shows up well
