Through the Kitchen Window...... Day 2

When we got up this morning Yesterdays Carcass was missing...... But replaced by a fresh , intact , headless one ! After a short while the owner of said headless Carcass returned , Now we've been debating whether this is the same Hawk , we thought yesterdays was a female (due to colouring and white bands above eyes ) this one seemed to be more orange and was moulting , after consulting the t'internet it turns out Juvenile males look like females (!?!?) , after much deliberation we think this one is a juvenile male as it appears to be more of a grey colour but who knows ! We're just enjoying the show out of the window.....

BTW the positively ancient EF 400mm f5.6 is giving a good account of itself , cracking glass !

Cracking images and I have always been a fan of the 400mm f5.6L.

Relatively inexpensive for an L series, great quality and it hasn't been updated in years ................. because they got it right first time!

Thanks Colin ! I've probably used it more than the 70-300mm L i bought at the same time when i moved up from the 400D to the 7D , will not be far off 10 years ago , i bought it because everyone at the time said exactly what you said when i was researching .

Great set, we had one in the garden so I went and got the camera and just saw it fly away as I returned...…………………………..

A very good set of pictures Gordon, well done. It just shows what I missed last year. My garden camera (set up to spot foxes) had captured one on the lawn late afternoon complete with sparrow, all I had needed to do was to look out of the window at the right time. Not seen him since. Grrr.
