    Red-Bellied Woodpecker

Getting desperate now stuck indoors self-isolating! This is the first image I took after converting to digital in 2008. Not one of my best but a bit nostalgic. Taken on the Anhinga Trail in the Florida Everglades. One might ask why I didn't get familiar with the camera before travelling all that way, but having used Canon cameras for many years and been to Florida every year since 1997, I thought it was worth the risk. It was the post processing that required the most practice.

EOS 1D III with 500mm f/4L IS MK 1 lens and 1.4 MK 1 converter.

    Thanks for looking.

Lovely image Brian, nice and cheery.

Titled a "Red-Bellied Woodpecker", there appears to be a distinct lack of red in the belly!

You might think it would be called a Red-Headed Woodpecker but there is a woodpecker in North America that has a redder head than this one so they went with red-bellied. It's not that pronounced but it's there, trust me!

Thanks Russell. I can't speak for the rest of the US but they are quite common in Florida.
