          I think I am with you on that Brian.

          Without the branch comes the freedom to crop and compose for the Cuckoo, which ends up being more dominant in the frame and therefore has greater impact.

            Firstly I'd be really pleased to have taken this image. I think the second image works a bit better. The vertical branch just looks a little strange.

              Both stunning images Colin, especially with an 800mm lens which am sure must be heavy, lovely background too, have to say I prefer the second image, the bird looks almost 3D it stands out so well
