    Male Siskin

Male Siskin - just about to descend onto the old drinking trough. Siskin's for some reason seem to drink far more than other species, continually coming in for a few sips of water. I noticed this down at my feeders where I got a small dish of water, they are continually going down to drink. Although they are feeding on the same type of seed feed as Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch etc.

Nice image, seen similar activity in our garden too. Siskin are such delicate little birds.

Nice capture, I don't see them in my garden, but are very common in the forest nearby, not noticed the drinking habit. (there's not mine lol)
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way

They seem to favour the Niger Seed when in the garden

Might seem weird but the male Siskin is my favourite garden bird and is well captured in your shot Trev. Delicate bird they maybe Ant, but they see off most birds when they are feeding.

                Yep aggressive little things.

We get groups of wood pigeon and collared dove in the garden. Always amazed that the collared dove stand up to the much larger wood pigeon and normally win.

Thanks everyone for looking, your like and comments.

As a footnote, from the number of juvenile Siskin's we've got around it would appear to have been a very successful breeding season.
