    Goshawk are quite a rare bird in the UK and as has been said has very restricted range. Would be interesting to know location.

    Would be a cracking tick for a garden list.

      Goshawks are more widespread than you might think, finding them however is a totally different ball game, 16 years I've been looking for them in our local forest, hear them often, but only seen one three times, granted I don't go every day, but there's a few of us looking and only one got photos of one flying over his head.

            Whatever it is, it came out well didn’t it. Impressive being able to shoot a 600mm prime lens single handed as well. I did it yesterday just for a laugh
            EOS 7D mk II, Sigma 150-660C, Canon 17-85 EF-S, Tamron 10-24 and a wife who shares my obsession.

              The location is Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire......its in the middle of a housing development on the edge of town, approx 1/3 mile from mixed woodland.

                Not a recognised stronghold area but as always birds can turn up anywhere. Looks like it might be tricky to confirm exactly what it was.
