    Hide it's back!

This Sparrowhawk is becoming a regular visitor to the garden. There was a fast flypast as I was having breakfast this morning.

Then this afternoon it was pretending not to be sitting on top of one of our bird feeding stations!. The usual feeder visitors when disturbed use the ivy and Berberis behind the feeder as cover/hiding places

I started by shooting through the double glazing. But as # David hasn't ventured this far South on his window cleaning round, I decided to try and open the window. I'm sure it was aware of me doing so, if not of me, then possibly the shutter sound. But it didn't seem disturbed at all.

As always your thoughts and comments welcome.

Rose, no takeaway this afternoon. One Sparrow came in and spotted the hawk which flipped over the hedge after it. The hawk reappeared and perched in an Apple tree, before moving into the next garden.

Nice set Peter, they can be quite tolerant of humans especially if they got a kill. BTW it's a female

Trev, how do you determine the sex?

Turn it up side down now to be sensible ---- Females have a very prominent eyebrow.

Ah the light coloured brow, thanks Trev

I wondered if it was the physical size, i.e. one being larger than the other.

Sorry Peter next time I am down I will bring my window cleaning gear. With regard the sex of the bird, normally 5he female is bigger and the male has darker wings.love all three, my pair would not allow me to open the window they would be gone before I even touch3d the handle.
