      Thank you for your comments. The background is intentionally as it appears - 0.07 high key - not 'blown out'. The image intentionally fills the frame to express detail. The white feather tips are specular highlights as are the lower orbital feathers.

          Nice image Steve, the way the background is, isn't necessarily my thing, think I would have just preferred seeing the water. However it is very effective in making your soul focus on the Godwit.
