    Spoonbill

    Some more images from 2023.

    These birds are slowly becoming more common. Named after their unusually shaped beak.

    They turn up at RSPB Old Moor in the late summer and autumn.

    This bird was very good at catching fish and caught quite a few in a short period of time.

      Great capture Ant. We’ve had two juveniles down on the marsh since early autumn, no one seems to give them a second look now. I did film them a week or so ago for a filming project I’ve got myself involved in. But as you say a bird that is becoming a more common sight now.

              Thanks for comments. Spoonbill breed at a RSPB reserve a bit North of RSPB Old Moor and it's likely this is where these birds originate
