    Rufus the Dog

    Hello all,

This was a dog that came to our photography club. He is a dog for the deaf and was a lovely model for us. I spent some time with Stan today showing me some PP skills and this is one of the images we worked on.

Cracking image. Might have been nice to remove the collar if possible before photographing.

Just had a quick look at images on Flickr and might be worth blurring the address on his tag.

I think it looks right with the collar on, especially if the dog wears one all the time - plus by removing the collar you'll see all the flat fir

Its a really nice photo but I'm seeing it a tad soft? not unless its just my eyes first thing

That's well captured. Black dogs can be very tricky to get exposed correctly. You still have plenty of detail in the fur and some nice catch lights too.

I'd be tempted to tone down the highlights on his nose but only a little.

It looked fine on my screen when we were editing yesterday so hope you are wrong as its being printed up at 15 x 10

I'd be tempted to tone down the highlights on his nose but only a little
the dog was shot in a "studio" environment with 3 studio heads with soft boxes and modelling lights
the highlights are not blown but again be interesting to see when the print arrives
