    Goat's Tea Party

Many animals are greedy so I knew I was onto an amusing photo when my friend sat near a goat with a sandwich

It was the new 70-300L @70 on the 5DII @ iso1600 - ideal for goat portraits

LOL, yes, the 70-300L is recognised as THE goat party lens!

Great shot Brian, nice and clear and made me laugh. Thanks!

        All the best, Mike.

Brian, I must say that the more I use my 70-300L the more I like it

              Hi Brian

Nice shot. It's worthy of a caption contest!
How are you finding the new 70-300L?
What made you decide on that one over one of the 70-200L's?

              Thanks

I like the new 70-300L - the IQ seems very good. That and the 24-105L are my lightweight walkabout pair of zooms.

I have a 70-200L f4 already but wanted more reach with the full frame 5D

I can tell you why I purchased the 70-300L rather than the 70-200L to give you another persons perspective.

Having tried both the 70-200 f2.8 anf f4 lenes I decided for me the weight of the f2.8 was more than I wanted to lug around with me for what would essentially be a long walkabout lens. The 70-300L is f4-5.6 so if I purchased the 70-200 f4 and put a 1.4x on it I would have a 98-280 f5.6 compared to the variable f'#s of the 70-300. The reviews I had seen put the IQ of both lenses as the same, some said the newer 70-300 had slightly better IQ/ But the final clincher for me was that the 70-300 is physically smaller than the 70-200 and would fit into my camera bags with no messing around.

I have used the 70-300L quite a bit of late and like it a lot.

I accept the arguements that it is a slower lens than some of the 70-200's but having made the decission not to go for the f2.8 it made sense to me to buy this lens

                              Hi Muscat

Thanks for your lowdown on the lens as well.
I'm certainly interested in that one, when i'm a little more experienced.

                              Cheers
