    Frosty Start

Thanks to family gifts etc. I've managed to get myself an EOS 1DS Mk3. I'm still working my way through getting used to it and the realisation that I have loads to learn. It's certainly more challenging than my 60D but when I get it right the pictures are fantastic. Just using the 24-104 L lens that I have at the moment but plans for more of the 'L' later this year.

Happy new toy Ian and this is certainly a fascinating early shot from it.

Contra Jour photography is certainly one of the more challenging genres of photography and one that I particularly enjoy. Get it right and nail the exposure and you can end up with a Wow shot, as indeed you have here. Though may I suggest a little off the bottom and the right to finalise the composition

That's a nice creative image, with the sun just enough off centre for it to sit comfortably in the frame.

The 1Ds MKIII is an excellent camera, and as long as you don't try and push the ISO to levels the 1DX is capable of, will keep on producing the goods time after time after time.

I've had mine now for about 3 years, and I'm still blown away at the image quality as long as you have decent glass attached to it.

I like that shot a lot, love the way you captured the sun and the frost/dew.
