As always Stan, your subjects are clear and sharp. For this on, IMO, the background seems to compete for attention even though it is well OOF. If the background a little darker or the subject isolated from the background with a black card, or converting the background to BW could bring the attention back to the subject.

I know what you mean Tom although I liked the pallet of colours which compliment the orchid and i have desaturated the background to try and concentrate attention on the flower. A black card is something i would probably use if shot at or near home but not practical at Barnes which is 100 miles from home and the day was not specific for shooting flowers

I like that Stan and I have to disagree with Tom. I think the background compliments the main subject due to the complimentary colours although a closer crop may help to accentuate this, just my opinion.
