Just wondering how you might avoid the shadow - wonder if increasing the distance between the flower and background would help

I like the stamen , no.2 - think it is a lily, though. Don't get the pollen on your clothes - stains like mad!Comment

Yes, like those, particularly the first. Softer edge to the shadow possible?
And it is a lily, not orchid.

You are right Guys it is a Lilly, should have known that! Post amended.
Stan. Yes a greater distance between BG and subject would reduce or avoid the shadow but after processing I quite like the shadow for some obscure reason that I can't describe.

As for the pollen... not only does it stain... its also lethal for cats.Di ~ Trying to take "the" photograph.
