    Bembridge beach - fungus

    Whilst visiting Bembridge and walking along the beach I found this very large fungus growing on a tree...

          They look like a bracket fungi, not normally that yellow so wondering if you have oversaturated a little ?

            In this instance the colours are pretty close to how it was, the colour was amazingly vivid.
            I have never seen a fungus quite this large and colourful.

              In this instance the colours are pretty close to how it was, the colour was amazingly vivid.
              having now looked it up in my mushroom book, yes the colour is spot on - its called Chicken of the Woods and is one of those edible mushrooms - if only you had known at the time you could have taken some back for tea

                    I am also impressed that you had a muschroom book to refer to
                    its a Collins guide, in the same series as their guide to birds and insects. To be honest though, there are so many different fungi, amny looking very similar, it is quite rare that i am able to identify anything much with it - although with this one, it was quite easy once you had confirmed the colour was as shot, as there is not another that looks anything like it

                        A good series with lovely colours. Quite sharp with lots of details.
