    Lovely shot, yes one of the Puff Balls - looks like Lycoperdon pedicellatum. One that is edible when young. If you do try it, keep a bit back, very handy for the Coroner in reaching a verdict.

          Thanks for the comments guys, I don't eat them Trev, but I am finding quite a lot of them this year, a bit earlier I think than usual, no sign of the Fly Agaric yet though.

            Quite agree, there is a lot around already -- early autumn, bad winter?????? Found one Fly Agaric, but the slugs found it before me
