          Looks like a 'gone over' Bay Boletus, need a stem section. - its not Boletus edulis. Try and get more light under them

            Thanks Trev, I had a quick web search and gather that the average diameter is 15cm. Which would be about right.It also said they're quite tasty, though as you say this one's a bit past it. Without expert knowledge I wouldn't risk it though.
