    Common Darter Male

Shot at Brownsea last week, this is an immature male. Hopefully now the weather is improving there will be a greater variety of specis around soon

    Hi Stan,
Well 26 views but no comments, so I will have a go!!

As always with your shots, very sharp indeed, nice background with no distractions, the length of the body appears to have made it difficult to have the head anywhere else but right in the middle of the frame, I suppose to have it anywhere else you would not have been able to get in close enough or crop close enough to see the detail.

Am very jealous, wish it was mine!!

As a matter of interest how close were you to the subject at shooting?

    Regards Paul

I really like this, no distractions from the background, and crystal clear subject, nice one.

        Thanks Paul and John

thats a common comment but when positioning a subject I take account of the whole, so althouth the head is central, the whole dragon is positioned to the left with more room on the right to look into

the minimum shooting distance with this lens is 1.5m and this was shot at 1.9m as i could not get any closer. It is around 80% of the original frame
