Regarding the 503 thing, when I posted this I got the 503 message twice, then tried preview and got a picture and voila
Like most fixes its probably not going to work for everyone but its at least another idea

                Re: Dragonfly

Thanks everyone for the kind comments - they were beautiful insects with the 2 pairs of wings operating completely independently from one another, quite fascinating to watch.
Phil, no I didn't stack it - that's a technique I still have to try. I may be wrong but I believe the DOF at 200mm from a 1.5 metres away is just better than, say, closer up at 100mm through a macro lens.

Great colour, with the focus been spot on, nice clean background too.

Nice shot, Getting good DOF with these insects is always a challenge. I am waiting for the warmer weather so I can have a crack at some of one I see down on the river.

                            Thanks everyone.
I'm going back to this spot again tomorrow hunting kingfishers so need to get to bed now (!) but I was there last week and these dragonflies were still in abundance then, but only in a strip about 30m long - what a wonderful world we live in.

Ian, I have better luck with DOF with my long lenses and then crop than I do with my macro. I still love my macro but you have to be practical and these little things dart about too much for a macro, in my opinion.

Very nice shot, the colours are fabulous. Can't wait for the warmer weather to to draw out some of our native creatures.
