    Topshell

Watched this in a rock pool in South Wales as it was grazing on the film of living stuff on the bottom. It's the Purple Topshell, Gibbula umbilicalis, named after the shape which (if upside-down) resembles the traditional kid's spinning top.

I particularly liked its striped antennae.

7D + EF100mm L IS Macro, and my dear wife's garden kneeler to make the barnacle-covered rocks a bit easier on the knees....

    Cheers, Chris.
    Just chuggin' along.
