    An early Admiral

    First butterfly (red admiral) sighting of the year on Sunday.....spring is coming ???

    Nice one; looks in good condition too! I guess it must be an over-wintering hibernator, brought out by the nice bit of sun we had on Sunday!

    I disturbed a Peacock butterfly in a relative's garage a few weeks back! Does that count as a 'first sighting'?

      I guess it must be an over-wintering hibernator, brought out by the nice bit of sun we had on Sunday!
      my guess too

              Spring might not be far away... but I'm sure its only last week I had to scrape frost from my car before work.

              Do like how you can see the little splashes of blue.

                              time will tell although the past two summers have been pretty bleak for butterflies
