    Wasp Spider

    First time I've seen one of these! Only the female has colour, the male is small & brown, and get's devoured by the female as soon as he's done the business! Another 'immigrant' species that is now taking hold and spreading across the south...

    I think it's a bee she has all wrapped up for supper...

    1. 70D : 100 f/2.8 II Macro : ISO800 : 1/400 : f/8 : 100mm : Hand held - didn't have my tripod!

    2. 70D : 100 f/2.8 II Macro : ISO1250 : 1/400 : f/11 : 100mm!

    Thanks for looking...
    Cheers;
    Lee

          Great shot Lee, looks to be fairly large compared to the bee.

            Thanks Stan; If you've seen one before, well done. I know they've been around for a while, but this was my first sighting. FYI - it was at Barnes. Reportedly there are a few on the reserve, but I only saw this one; in the flower-bed roundabout in the front where the buses turn around... if you're there, look for the ice-plant facing the main gate - they apparently love 'em!

            Hi Bill; the bee is all wrapped up tightly. The body of the spider is probably less than 1", but the legs give it a span of 2+ inches...
