      Great detail Stan , must give my Canon 100 f2.8 L IS macro an outing, any tips on how to get the best out of it?

        thanks guys

        any tips on how to get the best out of it
        not an easy question Chris as I don't do anything special - I just leave the focus distance to full and generally leave the stabiliser on. Always shoot hand held but if there is something convenient on which to rest the hood for stability, then I will use that. This shot, the caterpillar is on a leaf which was placed on a rock

              great tips from Stan - something else I use is a the rocking method if going in very close and turning the lens to manual
