    damselflies

    the main reason i bought the sigma lens for was its close focus ability ,with the appearance of the damselflies its proving its worth ,taken in high winds ,hand held ,i'm more than happy with these results

    Focus and detail is good on the first, a male azure damselfly, the second is slightly off but it is quite difficult when you have two in the frame.

    The sigma has done well but I wont be using mine in preference to my 300 f4

      I agree with Stan that the lens is not ideal for insects but when one lands in front of you it isn't always possible to change lenses, this post demonstrates that the lens will do a half decent job. It's not easy though with such a heavy lens but still possible - Common Bluetail:
